Blackout Music’s Intergalactic Soldier Drops It Hard

Current Value – Starfleet EP is simply amazing

Current Value (CV) has been in the scene for some time. Since his transition to neurofunk in the recent years, he’s produced amazing music. CV’s Starfleet EP on Blackout Music is no different. Hailing from the depths of our solar voyage, CV cuts through with sick Neurofunk. The title track that may be considered one of his best to date. We had a chance to listen to the full EP in the last few days. I gave it the proper studio listen, cheap speaker listen, and the famed car ride listen. Gotta love my Acura. *smiles*

Starfleet EP is a selection of music that can fit to any set. They are all so good! You can play out the whole EP and not get bored. Starfleet is the title track and it’s like i put on an Iron Man suit and dove into a black hole into the depths of your mind!

It starts with CV’s famed FM drums layered with some real samples, but they’re so tight! The kick and the snare cut through the mix very well and atmosphere through the introduction is sweet. The high pitch synth pad sounds like a filtered square wave… and thats it! No unison, chorus, or anything to make it sound too rave pad like, if you get what I mean. Maybe there’s some reverb and minor things going on but it’s simple yet effective. The break down is erie and the white noise build up brings you to the drop and BOOM! You’re smacked with a sick crunchy bass line, deep subs, and fat drums! Count Dracula bass face for days! The track keeps your intrigued in the switches and is certainly well mixed. Then the second drop surprises you with a change and keeps the track so hectic! I love it!

Current Value is the man and Blackout Music certainly has the ear for choosing amazing Drum & Bass!

Locked Concept Presents MachineCode

The label from down under just got deeper with MachineCode

Locked Concept of Australia is releasing their 8th piece of music. The release is titled ‘Doublegate’ featuring the awesome duo MachineCode. One of the label owners/curaters is Lockjaw who you may know from Noisia’s Invisible Recordings. He’s worked with Machine Code on this release and they have done an amazing job. This label puts forth what they consider “listening” music. With that said, this release is not only for that sweet ride on the train… This 3 track EP is a masterpiece of synthesis and atmospheres that bring you back to the depths of an inner reality. They have just posted the track ‘Phenotype’ written with one half of MachineCode, artist DR aka Dean Rodell. I almost said this was the best of the trip but i just finished listening to “Array” by Lockjaw and MachineCode… This is art in music… I can’t say anymore. I’m here typing this, listening to the song for a 7th consecutive time and i can’t express in words how supreme this song is. While the title track is the dance floor player, ‘Array’ has taken me away to another state of being.

Amazing music you must buy! Coming soon!

4Mulate Alters your Deep Mind

Modular Carnage Wrecks Havoc with Neurofunk Producer 4mulate

The German and London union of Modular Carnage Recordings has been putting forth great intelligent Drum & Bass since their inception in 2013. Their style is your deeper side of neurofunk and all the releases thus far are heavily “Tech-step” based. Their latest release puts forth a slightly different style of neurofunk. A harmonized atmospheric influenced peace of art by the artist 4mulate. 4mulate is an artist who has been heavily featured on Abducted LTD and certainly an artist to watch. This Floridian is flourishing in bass and continues to grow every release.

Alternation EP is no different in this fact. This massive release is needed for your set. ‘Deceiver’ is a brings you the tight microfunk drums and great atmosphere. It doesn’t bore at all. From the build to break down, it all rocks well. Then the title track ‘Alternation’ introduces you to 4mulate’s micro drums and a crazy erie arpeggio. I love it! The break down brings you a deep sci-fi feeling pad and then introduces you to the main synth that brings the track its character. A sweeping filtered hi pitched synth than drags you deeper into you cerebral cortex. This is almost ‘thinking’ music but it so hyped, it would drive your dance floor.

Big ups to the label and 4mulate. Great Release!

ChaseR – Neuronoir EP

Ignescent Recordings Presents the Neuronoir EP

February 24 is the date the Russian Neurofunk producer, ChaseR, takes another step on galaxies. The Neuronoir EP on Ignescent Recordings shows the growth of this artist. Every track made is better than the last. This EP shows the variety within one genre that this artist can generate. This 4 track EP is a killer for your stereo or neurofunk dance floor set. The track ‘Mecha’ was recently featured on Noisia Radio and the famed artists gave some well deserved kudos to ChaseR.

The title track, ‘Neuronoir’, is a beautiful representation of art. I can literally close my eyes and see the colors emitting from the track. The intro atmosphere and eire vocal take my mind through a beauteous aurora beyond our galaxy. The smooth feeling of being immersed in a void is overwhelming. The intro progresses into a deeply run bass line on the drop. The white noise stile ride reminds you that you are not floating in a vacuum but that you are engulfed in the presence of the universe. Its amazing how a simple track can do so much. Neuronoir is needed for your set!

The other track that stands out is the horribly named ‘Circumznithal Arc.’ Thats a mouth full. But for such a complicated name, the track is simple and beautiful. This track has some basic bass sounds, but its just well done. This needs to be in a galactic space ship shooter video game. Amazing work from this artists and we can’t wait for whats next!

Amazing release! Listen below!

Close 2 Death is still waging terror!

Close 2 Death Recordings presents “10 Yrs of C2D” Remixes LP

Our pals at Close 2 Death Recordings have been doing some awesome work over the years. Since 2006, the imprint has been focused putting forth some of the best Drum & Bass. They have released famed artists such as Maztek, Aeph, Future Signal, Neonlight, Prolix, Nick Bee and much more. It’s been a delight to see the label continue to put forth new sound and they are the label to look for the next awesome up and coming artists such as Qo, Merikan, and Rusty K (now known as Magnetude.)  Close 2 Death (C2D) is a high caliber label and they are proving their worth with their latest release.

10 Yrs of Close 2 Death is dropping soon and it is a smasher! This neurofunk remix LP is one to touch the souls of all Drum & Bass fans throughout. I was happy to hear some of the tracks that were chosen for the remixes. When I heard the vocal play from Silent Extent’s “Falling Down” I said, “Whoa! What… is… This?!” And a classic underground neurofunk got Marty McFly’d. The remix, written by Int Company, is such a banger. This track, for its nostalgic feelings and great sound is definitely the best song on the album, to me anyway. You must buy this album upon release. The Int Company remix is my favorite but all remixes stand out. The Clamps remix of Rusty K’s “AC-130” and Kroks remix of Merikan’s “All Crime is Legal” are a couple of other floor stompers.

All in all, the release is awesome and is worth the buy. Listen below!

L33 gets Chopped Up: Karate LP Remixes

Eatbrain Presents L33’s Karate LP Blackbelt Edition

So we have just been hit up with an advanced copy of L33’s Karate LP‘s Blackbelt Edition coming soon on Eatbrain. This is one 2017 has been waiting for! The release is a 5 track EP featuring remixes by Neonlight, Joe Ford, Prolix, Synergy, and a VIP by the original album artist, L33. Eat brain’s curators have chosen a solid team to remix these tracks and each one shares its own flavor of gnarly bass and clean mixes. One does stand apart from the rest to us.

I’ve had a few days to thoroughly listen to the album. I’ve been back and forth trying to figure out my favorite track and have come to a conlclusion. I have chose the track that on first listen made me go “Oooooh!!!!” Thats the Joe Ford Remix of “Drop it Down Low.” Joe Ford was first introduced to my ears under the Breed 12 Inches imprint which was a spin off of the famous Lifted Music record label. He’s consistently put out great music and leaves us wanting more because he doesn’t put out an abundance of tracks for us to be amazed. Kind of like having top shelf whiskey in that you can’t bank on getting too much knowing your pockets will get empty. Joe Ford does stay relevant and his take on the remix is amazing!

The track initially starts with the “Drop it down for me” sample and enters some nice simple atmosphere with a trance style saw tooth synth. During the build you hear the ever ear trembling rumble of drums, reece synth melody, more synths, drums building, and “I’ll make the club bounce!” The drop hits with a head banging drum line and a sick comb-ish type of reece bass that sounds both “wet” and grimy at the same time. Then into the second drop you are introduced to an epic amen style beat with the same bass. So SICK!

Seriously! Have a listen to the album below:

Warfare Recordings continues to Wage War

Warfare Recordings Presents Xylophobe “The Purge”

Bulgarian Neurofunk label Warfare Recordings comes correct on this release. The fairly new label has released artists we know like Space Journey, 2Whales, and are continuing to ever improve their selection of neurofunk. The label curator has a taste for music and this release proves it. Xylophobe is a bulgarian Drum & Bass producer who is fairly new to the scene. So far so good as we are impressed with these tracks on Warfare.

The Purge take the infamously erie broadcast from the movie. “This is not a test.” “Announcing the commencement of the national purge.” Being an American, this totally hits home and I constantly reminisce an odd dream of hearing the television say “This is your emergency broadcast system. This is not a test.” That is such a crazy thing to hear. The track then takes you through with sick synths, and dope square like bass lines.

The backside of this is our favorite of the release. Funk Aesthetics – Cerberus was featured on Warfare’s 7th release. The original track is probably our favorite from the label thus far. The remix was certainly done tastefully by Xylophone. He was able to roll the track a little better with tougher midranges. Definitely a great release overall to add to your mix! Listen below!

Get Naughty with AudioPorn Remixes

A Remix LP with some bangers!

We’ve just received a new promo from AudioPorn! Get naughty with these sick remixes from Jayline, Rushmore, Serum, and Shimon!

From the release:

Benny L: Appleroids Remixed

Following his recent collaboration with historical figure Shimon and a standalone EP which further solidified his place within the drum & bass genre, Benny L returns to the Audioporn imprint in the form of a remix package. Featuring some of the most exciting names to come forward in recent months, opening the door to fresh talent with names such as Rushmore taking centre stage it also provides music from more renowned artists, including Shimon, Jayline and Serum. ‘Appleroids Remixed’ caters to both the new school and old school in a four-track package, presenting a diverse range of talents.

With over ten years of experience in the game, Serum brings his vintage mix of jungle and jump up to the forefront for his rework. After a series of releases on the biggest brands in the underground, he brings his experience to ‘Bullfighter’ like only an artist of his calibre really could. Moving forward on stocky drums and a pumping bassline, Serum adds his spiking edge throughout the mix. Jayline changes the direction into choppier waters for ‘Appleroid’, following with a chaotic crossover of tightly cracking percussion, overlaid with pounding sub bass and a half time, carefully paced intro. Jayline produces a bouncy, warbling call to arms, with a stadium-lead hook which lowers you into its chaos. The producer doesn’t disappoint, providing a forceful reimaging.

Shimon then takes the lead, demonstrating why he’s become such a revered icon within the scene. ‘On The Job’ is powerful in its delivery, leaving you quivering with every stab of bass that filters through the composition. Each layer hits you like a freight train, producing an impact that will leave subs shattering. Shimon powers up break after break, ensuring that you’re left blown away at the standard flexed throughout this remix. Finishing the EP is newcomer Rushmore, adding his jaunty sonics for his retake on collaborative track ‘Warm’ from Benny L and Dub FX. Wrapping up with vibrant melody and diced up samples, Rushmore moves you into a new dimension and creates a crescendo for the record to finish on. Flying beats and cranking LFO helps to underpin the track, proving it’s not just the long-timers who are here to make an impression.

Billain – Batbots / Manifold The Remix EP

Bad Taste Recordings brings it again with a mammoth of a extended play release. Billain, a Bosnian drum & bass producer, released the original Batbots and Manifold with Bad Taste on their various artist LP “Black Box Two” in 2013. 4 Years later, the label commissioned some of the best Neurofunk producers to remix the two tracks. Pyhthis (Blackout) and Mindscape (Eatbrain) remixed Batbots. Neonlight (Blackout) and Malux (Bad Taste) took over Manifold. I was so impressed with each of the tracks I honestly cannot say one is better than the other. They are all different but all set smashers. Have a listen to the Malux Remix of Manifold as played on Inspector Dubplate.
